The Scarlet Lady is Building a Home in Miami
November 29, 2018
Richard Branson’s Virgin Voyages has applied for planning permission to Miami’s Board of County Commissions to build a new terminal building in Miami Port for the Scarlet Lady to call home.
Miami is one of my favourite cities and I absolutely love sailing out of Miami, for me sailing past Millionaire’s Row is one of the most special parts of Sail Away. For those of you that have never been to Miami let me tell you, it’s a whole other world. Miami is vibrant and modern with a love of all things flamboyant but it reveres it’s Art Deco past with beautiful architecture in cotton candy colours. The atmosphere is laid back and the vibe is definitely a party vibe. The crowing glory of South Beach is the stunning beach, a glorious stretch of powder white sand and warm crystal clear water. I can certainly see why Virgin Voyages & Miami would be a perfect match.
Famous Miami architecture & design firm, Arquitectonica have been commissioned to design the new terminal building. Taking inspiration from the iconic palm trees of Miami and combining it with the modern Virgin Aesthetic the building is certainly striking. By day the 2 storey glazed terminal with a roof line designed to look like palm trees will entice and excite and cruiser arriving for embarkation. By night with the lighting shimmering on the ocean and Virgin Logo set against the amazing backdrop of Miami it really does create a Miami Vibe. Like all things related to Virgin Voyages they certainly have a distinct style all of their own.
Happy Sailing.
Love
